BBL was established in 1997.

The goals of BBL are to:

  • Educate students in performing advanced research in bone biomechanics and bone bioengineering.
     
  • Apply basic engineering and biological principles to study microstructures and functions of bones.
     
  • Provide a collaborative research environment in biomedical engineering for undergraduate/graduate students.

Warm Welcome to Our Newest Lab Member, Lynette!

Lynette Xiadani Lopez received her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering specializing in bionics from Institute of Technology of Hermosillo in 2022. And she is going to join BBL in 2023 as an MS/PhD student. Welcome Lynette!

Congratulations Dr. Teodora Dinescu!

On July 17th, 2023 Teo successfully defended her thesis: Microstructural and biomechanical bone adaptations in a longitudinal study of guinea pig osteoarthritis and simulated disease progression. We are very proud of her accomplishments!

Congratulations Dr. Yizhong Hu!

On April 9th Jenny Hu successfully defended her thesis: Microstructure and Biomechanics of the Subchondral Bone in the Development of Knee Osteoarthritis. We are very proud of her accomplishments. She will pursue her postdoctoral studies at Dr. Yingzi Yang's lab (Harvard School of Dental Medicine). Congrats and best of luck in your new position Jenny!
