Dr. Genevieve Brown wins prestigious award at ASBMR

Six BBL members recently attended the annual ASBMR meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. Here, Dr. Genevieve Brown was recognized as lead investigator for the most outstanding basic science abstract of the conference! She also presented exciting recent research done by the mechanobiology group in a plenary osteocyte mechanobiology session. The abstract and talk titles was : Mechanically-Induced Calcium Oscillations in Osteocytes Facilitate Release of RANKL, OPG, and Sclerostin Through Extracellular Vesicles and Mediate Skeletal Adaptation.

Eddie also presented a poster centered around our recent work in osteoarthritis: Trabecular Rod and Plate Deficiencies are Distinctly Different in Subchondral Bone in Human Osteoarthritic Knees.

The conference also gave us an opportunity to connect with friends and alumni, including Professor Dong and Professor Liu at the ICMRS dinner and Professors Chan and Liu at a lab dinner in Atlanta.
