Dr. Guo led our team to attend the ORS Annual Meeting held in Moscone Center, San Francisco (Feb 3-7, 2012). This year we presented three talks (Andrew, Isabel, Ji) and four posters (Bin, Da, Tony). During the conference, we went to the Fisherman's Wharf with our fellow Columbia BMEs to cheer for the Giants!

BBL NIH grant application ranks high

The competitive continuation NIH grant application of ITS project "Micro-Mechanical Modeling of Trabecular Bone" has received an outstanding score of 20 and 7.0% ranking. This is a great news for BBL. Everyone in BBL has worked hard on this. Congratulations!!!

Professor Guo now serves as president of SPRBM and ICHTS, and on ORS Board of Directors

Professor Guo assumed the position of President of the Society for Physical Regulation in Biology and Medicine (SPRBM) this past January at the 30th Scientific Meeting of the society in Puerto Rico. He was elected Vice-President of SPRBM in 2011.

Sherry's farewell party!

BBL had a Hibachi farewell party for Sherry. Sherry joined BBL in 2003 and did both her Ph.D. and postdoc here. Then she worked at CUMC, but still closely collaborated with BBL. Over these years, Sherry has been super productive and made tremendous contributions to BBL. Now she's heading off to UPenn to start her faculty career. We all wish her the best luck! We believe she's going to be a great professor!

Another JBMR cover featuring the ITS technique has just come out!

The figure validating the application of ITS technique on HR-pQCT images has been selected for the cover of the prestigious Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, September 2011 issue. Congratulations, Sherry!! The study of ITS-based morphological analysis on human trabecular bone at limited spatial resolution has highlighted ITS's great potential in clinical bone quality assessment from a biomechanical perspective.
